Doctor Sarah McGuire de waxed both my ears today. What a pleasant lady. She managed to put me completely at ease with her bedside manner. Just wanted to say well done and thankyou very much. My hearing is a lot better now. Sheila Richards.

I think I must write to share the outstanding service I have received from two of the doctors at St Lawrence surgery. Dr Marion English and Dr Purvish Patel. I had reason to consult them recently about a worrying condition I had. They listened carefully to my concerns at both consultations, examined me thoroughly and did various tests before seeking advice from Worthing Hospital following my most recent consultation. A scan was immediately arranged for first thing the next day (A Saturday morning) and so my diagnostic journey began. The point I want to make is that despite the huge pressure on the surgery, as is the case for all surgeries and hospitals in the country, I was given the time needed to explore my situation thoroughly, was treated with respect and invited to share in decision-making about my health. I will be eternally grateful to them both.

I had an appointment with one of the nurses, Karen Jacobs for feedback about my annual spirometry test. I had a number of health issue I wanted to discuss as I was about to go on holiday. Karen listened to my concerns and discussed each one competently, with kindness and reassurance. She shared decision making with me and wrote prescriptions so I didn't need to see a doctor. Karen inspired confidence that knew what she was doing and I felt so much better when I left. We are so lucky to have such wonderful nurses, paramedics and doctors at St Lawrence. There will always be the odd blip, but overall they demonstrate the very best of primary healthcare.

I have COPD and wanted to check whether I needed to start my antibiotics as I am aware they will not work on infections caused by viruses and didn't want to take them unnecessarily (I have an emergency pack of steroids and antibiotics at home) My appointment was with Peter Gough a Paramedic nearing completion of his two year practioner training. He was extremely thorough, listened carefully to my history, went through my notes, examined my throat, chest and blood oxygen level and took my temperature. We discussed the outcome and I felt I was an equal partener in decision making to plan the best way forward. Peter explained everything thoroughly and checked I understood.I cannot undertstand why some patients refuse to see a Paramedic Practitioner. The treatment I received was as good as any doctor, although for some conditions I am aware I would need to see a doctor or nurse practitioner which is why our receptionists are trained to direct us to the best professional to help us.I feel so lucky to belong to a surgery like St Lawrence. All surgeries are not the same!!!

I cannot praise this surgery and all the staff highly enough. Always very helpful as well as sympathetic to my needs. I have been a client of many surgeries over the years, none of them even come close. The practice manage is superb and could not be more helpful. So far every GP and nurse have been great. If I had to write anything negative it would be difficulty getting appointments unless you phone first thing on the day, but then this is the story across all surgeries due to workload and other surgeries closing down. Overall, all i can say is excellent, you will not find a better practice
